12/29/2023 0 Comments Reaktor 6 carbon 2Im not that tech savvy myself either, i merely followed simple tutorials to get Win 7 to install on latest Ryzen CPU's. I totally understand even though its not as complicated as it may sound. And there will come a point in time when it won't be possible to do it at all. I suppose I went into off-topic territory with this, but to answer your question, installing Windows 7 on current hardware is a pain especially for someone who is not well versed in the technical aspects of computing and OS. I think im not allowed to but i highly recommend that version, simply because it was the last update before the telemetry wave hit us all and it all went downhill from there if you ask me. Not sure if im allowed to share my Win 7 ISO here with updates only up until November 2017. Any updates that came after that were mainly security updates which you dont need on an offline machine. My counter question would be why would you want to use Win 10 so bad on an offline machine? Why not Win 7 instead? Find a Win 7 ISO with updates up until November 2017 and you are perfect to go. I shared before how these services are not really turned off when turning them off within the options of Win 10. Through some update, then i would think its possible since windows services in general tend to run in the background and Win 10 makes it difficult to completely turn off all telemetry and services. "And now i'm like a major threat because i remind you of the things you were made to forget." You guys better stay away from using warez on latest Win 10 updates or the near future, not sure if it has been implemented fully yet or not but thats their plan to be able to detect pirated warez on your computer and disable it. Nor do i have any of the windows updates downloaded on that particular offline computer, which will eventually turn your Win 7 into Win 10 with all these nasty telemetry updates spying on your every activity. Im using Win 7 on my offline music production computer and never had an issue so far. Some of you might want to take the warnings more serious and settle for an offline computer for music production. Now whether or not this is the case here, i dont know, most likely the issue is something else here but it might still be helpful for some to know about the whole Win 10 / piracy detection in the near future. I would stay far away from using warez on Win 10 while at the same time being connected to the internet. Just google "windows 10 piracy detection" and read up on it. 12/29/2023 0 Comments August smart lock deadboltIn October 2015, the company debuted a suite of new products including a second generation smart lock, a smart doorbell, and a keypad for users without a phone. A Wi-Fi bridge was later released allowing remote access to the lock, and the use of virtual assistants (such as Amazon Alexa). As with other August door locks, the device clips on to an existing deadbolt on the inside portion of a door, still allowing the use of a traditional key. The lock had a metal frame and was controlled using Bluetooth 4.0 with a smartphone app. In May 2013, August released their first smart lock. Īs of July 2018, August Home had sold over one million smart locks and cameras. On October 19, 2017, Swedish lock manufacturer Assa Abloy announced an acquisition of August Home. August says the batteries in the Wi-Fi Smart Lock should last between 3 to 6 months.Jason Johnson (Co-founder and chief executive officer) August Wi-Fi Smart Lock review: Batteries and battery Lifeīecause of its smaller size, the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock uses two CR123 batteries, rather than the four AA batteries used in the August Smart Lock Pro. The August Wi-Fi Smart Lock also works in conjunction with August’s video doorbells while they’re not among the best video doorbells, it is convenient to be able to use the same app to both see who’s at your door, and then unlock it for them. Either way, the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock is definitely one of the best Alexa compatible devices and best Google Home compatible devices. Alexa, Google Assistant, and HomeKit are just the start it also works with Nest, Simplisafe, Logitech, Xfinity, SmartThings, and Control4, among others. One of the other aspects we like about August’s smart locks is their compatibility with a range of smart home systems. August Wi-Fi Smart Lock review: Smart Home features and compatibility Interestingly, your smartphone’s connection to the August lock switches from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth automatically, based on whichever is stronger. After, locking and unlocking the door was as simple as turning the knob, or pressing the massive button in the August app it turns red when the door is locked, and green when the door is unlocked.įeatures worked as advertised In fact, I forgot that I had auto-lock turned on, and was pleasantly surprised when the August bolted itself shut, and a HomeKit notification popped up on my smartphone, letting me know my deadbolt was closed. Installing the lock, connecting it to my Wi-Fi network and HomeKit should take you no more than 15 minutes it’s all pretty quick. These keys can be set to only work during certain hours, or only work for a limited period of time. Guest access: You can create temporary, or recurring “keys” for friends, family, or others to unlock the door via the August app.Upon your arrival home, August will automatically unlock the door for you once you’re a few feet away, and switch to Home mode. Auto-unlock: This feature uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to sense when you leave your home, and switch the lock into Away mode. You can also set the lock to emit a chime when it locks or unlocks. Auto-lock: If you’re using the DoorSense sensor, August can automatically lock your door as soon as it’s shut, or after a certain number of minutes.Smart alerts: Notifications for when a person locks or unlocks the door, or if it’s left ajar.DoorSense: A small sensor you attach to your door frame, and tells the lock if your door is closed.August Wi-Fi Smart Lock review: Features and performanceĪpart from the new design, everything that we liked on the August Smart Lock Pro is available on the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock. Most smart home owners won’t mind its absence, but power users who want to ensure all their smart home devices work even when there’s no Internet connection will want an older model. Unlike its older locks, the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock doesn’t have Z-Wave built in. It has a huge library of touch-friendly tablet apps, including lots of options for drawing, writing, and editing photos, audio, and video. Other “pro” features include a 120 Hz refresh rate, which makes animation look smoother, as well as Face ID, and a new feature that detects the Pencil as it hovers over the iPad.Īll iPads work seamlessly with Macs and iPhones in an Apple-centric workplace, and iPadOS is easy to use and simple to update, back up, and restore. THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: Hulu’s intriguing but frustrating book adaptation Conversations With Friends can’t quite match the heights of Normal People. It’s still a notch or two above your average romantic drama and offers some smart emotional insight along the way, but in the end, it’s a fleeting dalliance that fades too quickly. Conversations is dutifully faithful to Rooney’s prose, as Normal People was, but that means it suffers from the same flaws, too. The first novel by the 26-year-old Irish writer Sally Rooney, Conversations With Friends, wears its influences on its sleeve. The story could use more of Bobbi and Melissa to spice things up, but Kirke barely makes more than a cameo as Melissa, and Lane’s Bobbi is seriously underwritten - more of a symbol than a fully realized character. (Frances’ home life is dreary, with an unreliable alcoholic dad and a mysterious health issue.)Īlwyn makes a dashing romantic lead as Nick, but his scenes with Oliver’s Frances fall into a repetitive rut after a while. Frances can be hard to read, though, which makes it harder for us to connect with her, and with the show’s narrow focus on her, it all starts to feel a bit claustrophobic. Oliver has a huge load to carry here in her first major role - the camera spends a lot of time on her face - and she carries it well, lending Frances a captivating vulnerability. It’s also a tall order for the actors to equal the stunning work done by Normal People stars Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Conversations With Friends is frequently lovely to look at, in a measured way that reflects the way the characters look at one another intently, while trying to seem casual. (All those significant glances don’t add up to much of significance, really.) It’s true to life, you might say… but that doesn’t mean it’s dramatically satisfying. It’s leisurely paced, to the point of being snoozy. But the series meanders a bit after that initial rush and ends up getting stuck in narrative lulls and loops. A picturesque seaside vacation acts as an emotional pressure cooker, and the early episodes hit on some messy, complicated truths about love and relationships. The story unfolds along fairly predictable lines, though: the giddy rush of infidelity, followed by nagging guilt and jealousy. Plus, the sex scenes have genuine heat to them, as Normal People‘s did they feel real and intimate in a way we rarely see, leaving the participants sweaty and flushed and not entirely photogenic. The conversations are brimming with subtext, punctuated by lots of longing looks and significant glances. From the makers of Normal People, the BBC Three and Hulu adaptation focuses on a ‘ménage à quatre’ between. The new drama is Hulu’s second limited series adaptation of a Sally Rooney novel and is coming. Rooney specializes in crafting relatable characters and natural dialogue in her books, and Conversations has the same grounded feel Normal People had, albeit slightly heightened and juicier this time. Conversations with Friends review: Sally Rooney adaptation revels in the unspoken. It’s very obvious what the makers of Conversations with Friends are hoping will happen with it. The chubby chap has become something of an unofficial mascot for Norman Cook in the years since, so it was no surprise when he was invited back to appear on the cover of The Greatest Hits – Why Try Harder in 2006. It's been over 16 years since this portly fellow first appeared on the cover of Fatboy Slim's groundbreaking You've Come Along Way Baby in 1998, spawning countless sales of imitation t-shirts. Publishing companies, for example, don't generally sell licenses to use book cover images - they encourage free use of those images to promote their books. However, that's quite rare with these kinds of promotional materials. In that case, there's less room for fair use. Another thing to consider is whether the rightsholder licenses the type of use you're making.Movie posters are sometimes sold on their own, but using a movie poster image to promote an authorized screening, for example, does not provide a substitute for posters sold by the studio. While we wouldn’t recommend throwing a real one around, you can get some hyper-realistic ones from Les Artisans D’Azure. These throwing stars would be concealed until the very last minute, embodying the very essence of the ninja themselves: silent, precise, and deadly. The most well-known weapon in the ninja’s arsenal is by far the shuriken. Unable to deflect such a strange looking weapon, opponents would fall from the many ways the kusarigama could be wielded to deadly effect. Then they could cause real damage their enemy by just scrapping sensitive parts like eyes and ears, and if painted with poison, ninjas could kill their enemy.Ī kind of hybrid between kama and manriki-gusari, the kusarigama’s unusual appearance lent well to its mystery. If ninjas wore a kakute with its its spikes facing out instead of in, the kakute could be used like knuckle dusters. It was worn on the middle finger and with the spike hidden inside the hand.
